Have you tried different surfaces (ie: is a laminate table worse than a couch)? Sounds weird, but a mouse pad might help if it's the table surface.If you pick it up do you hear any rattling in the air or does the mouse move (No I'm not messing with you to try, but it shouldn't move which could be a sign of a bad lense)

Could be a dirty lense on the mouse or bad lense.Optical or Laser? - A laser is more precise and can cause more jitter.
